The University of Alabama Legal Clinic

The Legal Clinic at The University of Alabama is a free legal service offered by the 3 rd year law students. Advice is available only on non-criminal charges such as bankruptcy, leases, car wrecks, etc. and they do not handle traffic or alcohol violations.

For Your Information :

  •  Effective August 9, 1996 , administrative suspension of driver's license for 90 days if test over .08 or if breath test refused.

•  Effective May 28, 1995 , blood alcohol level lowered for which it is unlawful to drive for minors (under 21) to .02%

•  Jail time is often given on a first offense DUI involving accidents and high blood alcohol levels.

•  A person does not have to be driving to be convicted of a DUI, but in physical control with includes sitting on the driver's side with the keys in the ignition.

•  For the offenses listed below, a 2 nd offense will result in higher fines with the possibility of a suspended jail sentence and probation and/or jail time to serve.

Garbage Disposal

Curbside Service:

Town roll-carts are maintained by the Department of Environmental Services' curbside service. Household refuse is collected twice a week at the curbside. Residents are responsible for bringing containerized trash to the street and returning the container to the side or back of the house.

•  Use the 90 gallon city issued garbage containers only

•  Cans that are not provided by the city cannot be used

•  Use cans that have a wind latch to prevent the scattering of garbage

•  Put all garbage and household refuse in watertight bags secured at the top

•  Put all garbage at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of collection but no sooner than 4 p.m. the day before. All containers are to be removed from the street by 7 a.m. on the day following collection.

•  There is a $25.00 fine for leaving your roll cart at the curb after the collection day
